We are excited to share the following updates to the lesson bank, created in response to feedback from the field:
- “Grab and Go” lessons! We will continue to provide complete lessons that include instructive details for the required components of high-quality, standards-based, contextualized instruction. However, we now are also providing streamlined versions of each lesson. These are generally 2-3 pages, include all required components and are great for educators to access quickly.
- At-a-glance lesson lists for RLA, math, career exploration, soft skills, Kentucky’s top five career sectors, and student retention and persistence. These lists assist instructors in quickly identifying appropriate lessons to meet student needs. RLA and math crosswalks have also been added to help connect lessons to GED® High Impact Indicators (HII).
- The new Student Retention and Persistence lesson category helps guide educators to motivate students to persist in reaching their goals which is a critical component for long-term success and obtaining family-sustaining wage employment.
- All instruction in Kentucky is contextualized for workforce preparation by the integration of the KYAE Skills U Employability Standards. To provide instruction that is also aligned with a specific job, or occupational cluster that the student has identified as a goal click on “Search for Lessons”, then “Employability”. In this section you will find “Soft Skills”, and “Career Exploration” from which to choose based on student need. In addition the teal colored tiles represent the 16 national career clusters, and the brown tiles designate Kentucky’s top five industry sectors (Manufacturing, Healthcare, Information Technology/Business Services, Construction/Trades, and Transportation, Distribution and Logistics (TDL)
