There are 16 career clusters leading to various career pathways. Instructors can incorporate these clusters into curriculum design and instruction. Adult education services will include workforce preparation activities and training for specific occupations; this will allow students to achieve their educational and career goals. Lesson Purpose

This lesson is part of the development of a unit on Introductions to different Careers in the workplace. It is meant to create interest in a career in welding for those GED students who do not wish to pursue more academic based careers by showing they are already equipped (or could easily become equipped) to pursue a career in this field. This lesson also teaches strategies for finding meaning in job-specific vocabulary.

Lesson Objectives

At the end of this lesson, students will be able to:

·         Understand job-specific vocabulary using decoding vocabulary techniques

·         Identify and Interpret Basic Welding Diagrams, Basic Weld Types and Joints

·         Use Welding App technology in order to inform, analyze, and translate into drawings
