There are 16 career clusters leading to various career pathways. Instructors can incorporate these clusters into curriculum design and instruction. Adult education services will include workforce preparation activities and training for specific occupations; this will allow students to achieve their educational and career goals. Students will practice the process of writing an RLA extended response to improve their writing skills for the GED exam.

Lesson Objectives

At the end of this lesson, students will be able to write a body paragraph and conclusion to an RLA extended response. Students will write an introduction and body paragraph with a partner and then write a second body paragraph and a conclusion on their own.

     a. Use punctuation (commas, parentheses, ellipsis, dashes) to set off nonrestrictive/parenthetical elements.

    b. Use a comma to separate coordinate adjectives (e.g., It was a fascinating, enjoyable movie but not He wore an old[,] green shirt).

    c. Use an ellipsis to indicate an omission.

    d. Spell correctly.
