Lesson Purpose

In order for students to be successful in online portals and in the workplace, they must possess proficient digital literacy skills. The purpose of this lesson is to teach how to find legitimate information online.

Lesson Objectives

At the end of this lesson, students will be able to:

·        use search engine Bullion search techniques to perform research

·        identify reputable vs. non-reputable websites

·        use search strategies to research a topic effectively

Student Target

“I can use effective Internet searches to research a topic.”

  • Integrate and evaluate content presented in diverse media and formats, including visually and quantitatively, as well as in words. (Apply this standard to texts of appropriate complexity as outline by Standard 10.)

  • Conduct short research projects that use several sources to build knowledge through investigation of different aspects of a topic.
