Lesson Purpose

In order for students to be successful in online portals and in the workplace, they must possess proficient digital literacy skills. The purpose of this lesson is to teach the Netiquette necessary for professional interactions online.

Lesson Objectives

At the end of this lesson, students will be able to: 

  • Identify appropriate use and settings of technical devices such as laptops, cell phones and other mobile devices at various locations and situations.
  • Identify precautions to keep personal security risks to a minimum.
  • Identify appropriate content of electronic communications for a variety of audiences.
Student Target

“I can use correct digital etiquette and security when communicating online.”

  • Determine central ideas or themes of a text and analyze their development; summarize the key supporting details and ideas. (Apply this standard to texts of appropriate complexity as outlined by Standard 10.)

  • Recall relevant information from experiences or gather relevant information from print and digital sources; summarize or paraphrase information in notes and finished work, and provide a list of sources.
  • Report on a topic or text or present an opinion, sequencing ideas logically and using appropriate facts and relevant, descriptive details to support main ideas or themes; speak clearly at an understandable pace.
