Lesson Objectives

At the end of this lesson, students will be able to:

  • demonstrate proficiency in converting units of measure via time (hours, minutes, seconds)
  • create a time management plan for themselves with time quantities expressed in hours, minutes, and seconds
Student Target

"I can convert time among hours, minutes, and seconds to create a time management plan for my success."

CCR Focus Standards
Number and Ratios - Level C
  • Fluently multiply multi-digit whole numbers using the standard algorithm. [NOTE: A “standard algorithm” might be any accepted algorithm that fits the experience and needs of the students.]

  • Fluently divide multi-digit numbers using the standard algorithm.

Supporting Standards
  • Find whole-number quotients of whole numbers with up to four-digit dividends and two-digit divisors, using strategies based on place value, the properties of operations, and/or the relationship between multiplication and division. Illustrate and explain the calculation by using equations, rectangular arrays, and/or area models.
