Lesson Purpose

Students need to be able to convert fractions to decimals and decimals to fractions in order to possess the necessary skills to be employed in construction and trades careers. This lesson attempts to build the students’ employability skills by strengthening their number sense and fluency with fraction and decimal conversions.

The lesson purpose should be stated to students in the introduction of the lesson.

Lesson Objectives

 At the end of this lesson, students will be able to convert fractions to decimals and decimals to fractions to solve word problems related to trade jobs.

Students will watch instructor model examples, solve word problems and create a word problem with a partner, demonstrate how to solve a problem on the board, solve problems independently, and explain the steps for these types of conversions.
