Lesson Purpose

The purpose of this lesson is to introduce students to the important role that rest and sleep play in the elderly population and some ways they can help residents who may be having problems sleeping.

Lesson Objectives

At the end of this lesson, students will be able to:

· describe the importance of sleep for elderly residents

· describe common sleep problems and ways to assist residents

· write a 5-7 sentence summary of research on elderly sleep
