Check out our Money Management/Financial Literacy lessons!
Kentucky Skills U Lesson Bank newly added a lesson category dedicated to Money Management/Financial Literacy lessons. This category is to showcase several lessons contained in the bank that prepare adult education students with money and financial literacy skills. This new focus on financial literacy is quite timely. A June 28, 2018, article in the Lexington Herald Leader recently featured an article asking, “Why basic money management skills matter and what Kentucky is about it?” This article addressed House Bill 132, which requires ninth-grade Kentucky public high school students who enter for academic year 2020-2021 to complete a course in financial literacy in order to graduate. Course standards will be developed by the Kentucky Board of Education. In addition, the Department of Education will develop curriculum materials and guidelines that schools can use to teach these financial literacy courses. The addition of the Money Management/Financial Literacy category reflects the new emphasis on the importance of financial literacy, especially for adult learners. Please take a moment to view and use the Money Management/Financial Literacy lessons. To access enter the Lesson Bank, scroll over “Search for Lessons” tab, then arrow down and click on Money Management/Financial Literacy tab. There is also an “At-A-Glance” lesson list that will allow a quick view all the lessons that are housed under the new Money Management/Financial Literacy tab. We are very excited to announce and highlight these very important lessons.
