There are 16 career clusters leading to various career pathways. Instructors can incorporate these clusters into curriculum design and instruction. Adult education services will include workforce preparation activities and training for specific occupations; this will allow students to achieve their educational and career goals. Lesson Purpose

Students must learn to read instructions closely and follow them in order to be success at their future jobs. Employees of the East Kentucky Power Cooperative ranked this RLA skill as the most important for success in power/energy jobs.

Lesson Objectives

At the end of this lesson, students will be able to read closely in order to follow multi-step instructions correctly. Students will watch the instructor model how to read instructions closely and make inferences related to following instructions for trade jobs. Then students will work with a partner to read instructions closely and answer text-dependent questions. Next, students will read closely and answer questions independently. Finally, students will work in teams to read closely and follow multi-step instructions in order to build popsicle houses.
